WITHIN WITHOUT

After learning to fuse and bend glass with a kiln, I thought a turtle shell would be a simple beginning. Again over 1,000 hours — this time with fewer fumes.

This sculpture traveled to Glassmasters Guild NYC and won the “Grand Prize” at the 6th Annual National Glass Competition in 1983.

The title comes from the solitary time I spent working on this sculpture.

The turtle, by far, is the people’s choice out of all my work. It’s like a rock star having one major hit in his life and that’s all people remember.
